Photo Upload Guidelines

1. Composition
Centering: While centering your aircraft in the frame is generally preferred, we welcome creative compositions that showcase your unique perspective. Just ensure the aircraft remains recognizable and visually appealing. For side-on shots, centering the area between the wings and the window line can provide better balance.
Cut Off: Avoid cropping important parts of the aircraft. If you’re focusing on a close-up, ensure the entire subject is included. That said, feel free to experiment with framing and angles; creativity is encouraged!

2. Horizon
Level Shots: Keep your horizon straight. Use vertical references, like buildings, to help align your photos. All types of shots, including cabin views, should be level.

3. Motive
Clear Intent: Ensure your photo clearly represents aviation. Window views should showcase more than just a wingtip, and avoid including recognizable people unless they’re integral to the aviation scene.

4. Clutter
Visibility: Make sure the aircraft is fully visible without obstructions like catering trucks or equipment. If ground equipment is included, ensure it doesn’t obstruct the view of the aircraft.

5. Distance
Too Far Away: Avoid photos where the subject is too distant. If you need to crop, ensure quality is maintained; however, try to capture the aircraft closer to begin with.

6. Quality
Sharpness: Blurry photos will not be accepted. Always aim for sharp, clear images.
Cleanliness: Remove any dust spots from your sensor or lens before uploading.

7. Exposure
Lighting: Avoid shooting against the sun to prevent backlighting. Ensure your photos are neither too dark nor too bright; check your camera settings for proper exposure.

8. Editing
Color Balance: Ensure your colors appear natural. Adjust for saturation if needed, especially if you shot through tinted glass.
Compression: Save your images with high quality to avoid losing detail during compression.

By following these guidelines, you can help ensure that your images are both visually appealing and suitable for our community. Please don’t hesitate to upload your creative shots; there’s no need to worry! If you’re innovative in your approach and follow these principles, it shouldn’t be a problem during the screening process. I will make the final decisions, so there’s no need to stress about it. Happy uploading!
